Summer Fête Update

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Summer Fête on Saturday. We had an amazing turnout and it was lovely to see the children having so much fun, playing games and socialising with friends in the sunshine. Hopefully the adults had a good time too! A huge thank you goes out to all of the parents and teachers who volunteered their time. We couldn’t run an event of that size without help, so whether you helped set up, baked a cake, ran a stall, or cleared up afterwards, we are so grateful for your time. We are delighted to share that together we raised an incredible £2000+ for the school. These funds will go towards new equipment and experiences for the children, so well done everyone!

Animal Experience Days

This week the PTA funded Animal Experience Days for the children, as a special end of year treat. Thank you to everyone who contributed towards the expense of this, to help offset the cost a little bit. We loved hearing the children talking about the animals they had seen, touched and learned about. It seems like the sibling meerkats were very popular, and lots of children were thrilled to have been licked by the blue-tongued skink! I have it on good authority that it wasn’t slimy or ticklish, it just felt like a tongue =) We have had a couple questions about the company and whether they do birthday parties – yes, they do parties and they are called The Animal Experience, based in Ely.

Year 2 Leavers' Party

Here's a date for your diary – the Year 2 Letchmore Leavers’ Party takes place on Monday 22nd July! This event is completely funded by the PTA, so it is free to attend. It's a lovely occasion for the children to celebrate their time at Letchmore and say goodbye to their teachers and friends. The party will take place in the school hall from 4pm until 6pm. There will be a disco with a professional DJ. Your child should be collected from school at the usual time that day, and then returned to school for the party at 4pm. If your child is booked to attend after-school club on this day, they will be able to get changed there and be escorted to the party by staff (just bring a party outfit in a bag to school that day). The party will be run by Year 2 teaching staff and PTA Committee members. Parents/Carers are asked to collect children promptly at 6pm. Stay tuned for more details about the party nearer the time!

Preloved Uniform Officer

We’re delighted to share that Hannah Bailey is now our official Preloved Uniform Officer. If you have any requests for uniform, please contact pta@letchmore.herts.sch.uk or if you see Hannah feel free to pull her to one side to ask – we promise she doesn’t bite!

School Lottery

Did you know that you can help raise money for the PTA by playing the school lottery? There is a cash prize winner from the Letchmore school community every single week, and you could also be in with a chance of winning the National prize of up to £25,000! Tickets cost just £1 per week, so to sign up go to yourschoollottery.co.uk/play and search for Letchmore. If you join by 25th February you will also be entered into a draw for a whole year of HelloFresh meals – yum!

Fundraising this year

Welcome back! Hope you all had a lovely holiday. The start of a new year is a perfect time to get involved with the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) at Letchmore. Regular support from parents and carers enables the PTA to organise fun activities for the children and provide new school equipment. The PTA is a registered charity, number 1029384. All support, no matter how small, will add up to make a big difference. So if you have a New Year’s resolution to get involved in the school community, then we’d love to have you!

You could get involved with the PTA by signing up to our weekly school lottery, by shopping through AmazonSmile, by becoming a PTA Committee member or a volunteer in our “Friends of the PTA” WhatsApp group, or simply by coming to PTA events and generally helping us to reach our fundraising targets.

Get involved with the PTA

The PTA needs you! The PTA is a registered charity, and our fundraising goes directly towards some great causes, with recent examples including new playground equipment, IT equipment, gym equipment, phonics resources and much more. There are easy ways to get involved, including the School Lottery, Amazon Smile, and volunteering your time. All support, no matter how small, adds up to make a big difference. Please see the attached poster for ways you can help or email the PTA at pta@letchmore.herts.sch.uk to get involved.

Match Funding
Does your company offer match funding? The PTA is a registered charity, and match funding is a great way for us to double our fundraising on events that we run during the year. If your company offers match funding, please email us at PTA@letchmore.herts.sch.uk and we'd be happy to provide a letter to help you secure match funding on behalf of the PTA.

Amazon Smile

Did you know that every time you shop on Amazon, you could be earning money for the PTA? Same selection, same price, but the PTA gets a cut directly from Amazon.  Simply search for "Smile" on Amazon, follow the link to Amazon Smile and select Letchmore PTA as your charity of choice. Amazon will then donate a portion of the purchase price to the PTA.  Earn money for our school whilst doing your Christmas shopping - a win-win!
