Reverse Advent Calendar

We are going to be taking part in the ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’, we would love it if you would like to support us in this very worthy initiative, especially in these continued unprecedented times with so many families being affected.  We will be following Covid-19 guidelines and quarantining all donated items before they are collected.  We will leave a box outside each classroom for donated items to be put into.

What is a ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’?

For a lot of people, Christmas is a time of excess and indulgence; plates are piled high with basted turkey, stuffing and pigs in blankets.  There are presents, treats and each morning, leading up to Christmas, you may open your advent calendar for a present or sweet.  However, for some families, it is a really difficult time and they can struggle.

Every day, from 1 December up until Friday 17 December, we are asking for families to donate something for our ‘Reverse advent calendar’ boxes which will then be donated to ‘People for People’ of Stevenage.  This is a way of helping those most in need over the Christmas period.  If each family were to donate one item each day this would make an incredible difference to many who are struggling.  This links closely with our school value of ‘love and care’, and is a great way to show our children that Christmas is also about giving.

We understand that this may be a difficult time of year for some of our families and we only ask for donations if you feel you are able to help.  If you are not in a position to do it, please do not worry.
