  • Road Safety Initiative

    Fri 17 Mar 2023

You may have noticed that there are new traffic management signs being placed outside the school grounds to remind everyone to park considerately during drop off and collection times.  This a council run initiative that is being rolled across the county to try make roads outside our schools safer for our students and their parents/carers.

You may also notice that there are increased traffic patrols over

the coming weeks.  This is all aimed at improving road safety and    considerate parking for our neighbourhood.  We would like to thank all our parents for assisting with this.

Our Nursery children had a visit from the fire brigade on Tuesday.  The children were able to ask questions about what they do as part of their job role and had a chance to look at the fire engine.  They learnt about the equipment that the fire fighters use and the protective clothing they wear.  They also finished their session by spraying the hose!

  • Science Week- 13-17 March 2023

    Thu 09 Mar 2023

    Monday -

The Reception classes enjoyed their bubbles workshop. They learned about the properties of bubbles and enjoyed making different types of bubble.

Can a goat float? In Year 2, the children wanted to help the goats from ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ escape from the nasty troll, so they used floating materials to build rafts, and then tested them out to see if they would actually float with a toy goat on top.

    Tuesday -

This morning a shocking crime was committed – somebody took a bite from Mr. Green’s Krispy Kreme! He enlisted the help of Year 1 and Year 2 to narrow down a list of suspects to find the perpetrator!

The children had to analyse a note left on Mr. Green’s desk by comparing handwriting samples, measure footprints and compare the length to a muddy footprint left in the classroom, and compare different fingerprint types after sticky fingerprints were left on his desk!

    Friday –

Eruption day! Today the children brought in their volcanoes and witnessed some volcanic eruptions!

Mr. Green would like to say a big thank you to everybody for your continued support, either by donating much needed resources, or by engaging with our Science activities this week!

  • World Book Day 2023

    Thu 02 Mar 2023

On Thursday 2 March we celebrated World Book Day 2023.  The staff and children all came to school in their pyjamas and their favourite books to enjoy.

The children all had the chance to sit and read their books during the day and enjoyed discussing them with their friends or with some of the students who joined us from Almond Hill school.

We would very much like to thank all the children who came down from Almond Hill to help support our children for this, you were a credit to yourselves and your school.

We are sure you will agree it is one of life’s great pleasures to be able to share books and stories with your children.
