  • Year 1 Toy Inspirational Day

    Fri 24 Sep 2021

On Wednesday Year One had their first inspirational day of the year. They all looked fantastic as they arrived in school wearing their toy costumes.

During the day, the children visited each of the classrooms to complete different activities.

In Greenfinch class the children heard a story about a family toy box. The toy box was full of toys from the past 100 years. The children were then given the opportunity to empty the toy box and play with the different toys.

In Chaffinch class the children watched a short video which took them back in time with Magic Grandad.  They visited 1870 and learnt all about the toys that children used to play with in the late Victorian period. They then made their own Victorian thaumatrope toy.

In Goldfinch class they listened to a story about some toys who come to life at night.  They then explored the ways different toys would move and created a toy dance.

Lots of fun was had throughout the day!

  • Bike to School Week 27 September to 1 October 2021

    Tue 21 Sep 2021
Next week is ‘Bike to school’ week.  We would encourage as many of our students as possible to take on the challenge of biking or scooting to school.  This is not only good for our physical and mental health but it helps to reduce pollution in our area.  The bike sheds are now back open again and waiting to be used!  Why don't you share a photo of yourself riding or scooting to school and we can share these next week!

Why cycle or scoot the school run?

There are loads of benefits to getting active on the way to school.

    1. It's a boost to children's physical and mental health and wellbeing
    2. Children arrive more relaxed, alert and ready to start the day.
    3. There's reduced congestion and pollution around the school gates.
    4. Children are more aware of road safety and feel more independent.

Bike to School week is run by Sustrans in association with the Bikeability trust.   There is no need to register, all Sustrans ask is that you let them know if you and your family will be cycling or scooting to school from 27 September and 1 October by pledging your journeys via the form below.

By pledging your journeys, you’ll be in with a chance of winning a child’s Frog Bike worth up to £400.

They will also send you a free guide to walking, cycling and scooting to school with lots of great tips and activities.
